Welcome to Team Baldos!

Baldos II in the Alps

In 2008, we were a couple of engineering students building a car.

In 2009, we were a record-breaking and award-winning participant in the Shell Eco-Marathon Europe.

In 2010, we defined a high standard for street vehicles in Sweden with Baldos II and built a prototype car named Skilži.

In 2011, we were developing Skilži to be Swedens most fuel-effecient car.

Today we are developing Baldos II to be a maintenance friendly and reliable car so that it could be a competitive contribution at Shell Eco Marathon 2012!

Tomorrow – well – we don’t know what we’ll be,

but there’s still plenty of fuel left in our tank.

.

Team Baldos 2012 consists of 7 mechanical engineering students from Luleå University of Technology in northern Sweden. We are developing Baldos II  which is intended for participation in the Shell Eco-Marathon Europe, an annual contest to drive the longest possible distance on the least amount of fuel. Follow the pages above to read News and more about Baldos II, The Team, what the Press has written about us, our Sponsors, various Media and how to get in touch with us.

Baldos is the name of a car that is being developed and manufactured by students at Luleå University of Technology, LTU.  Baldos 2008 did not only win the Urban Concept class by driving furthest on one litre of gasoline, but also the Combustion Engine prize, Climate-friendly Grand prize (least CO2 emissions), Alternative Gasoline Award, and last but not least the BOSCH Technical Innovation Award. While we are very pleased with last years result, we strive to perform even better this year. For more information on Baldos 2008, please visit http://08.baldos.se.

The purpose of this project is to encourage innovation in the area of transport and propellant and thus explore new solutions on future cars with respect to the environment. The race will take place in Netherlands on the brand new street circuit in Rotterdam, May 17-19 2012.
